First day's are always a little unnerving. The kids have staggered starting dates, I guess to ease them in gently. The Bubela is starting today with Rafi, the Rabbi's son. At least he will have a friend to play with.
My first days have always been memorable for me. My first day of secondary school...
I took an entrance exam for my school the day before school started. Later that day I was told that I was accepted and I'd be starting school the next day. Obviously there was no time to buy the school uniform, so I wore a blue skirt and white jumper with a blue stripe down the middle. I stuck out like a sore thumb amongst those chocolate brown skirts and blazers.
Not only was there they whole uniform thing to make me feel inferior, but I was not on the class register either. I was far too shy to mention that my name had not been called out in registration. Only to hear a little girl sitting to my left, brown bobbed hair and looking very smart in her crispt new uniform say, "her name's not been called, ma'am." 20 years later and that little girl still remains a very good friend.
Oy, and my first day of work...
I was only 16. I took the Central Line tube (the London Underground system) into Holborn. I was starting work at one of the big banks there, they had branches everywhere. I looked great. I was dressed in a smart blue suit my mum had bought me to start work with. Only to walk into the wrong branch and introduce myself as starting work there today. No, they hadn't been expecting me. They checked all the files, asked the branch manager. No not me. Oops, it was the branch across the street I was supposed to be at. So with all the cuffuffle and confussion, it turned out that I was late on my first day.
Doesn't he look smart? Good luck my bubela and enjoy your first day.

Yes, first days are always daunting and your "bubela" does look smart, indeed!
