We're going on a beach hunt.

We're going to find a big one. What a beautiful day! We're not scared.
My creation

We visited a beach this weekend, a beach we have visited before. A beach on the edge of the Blackwater estuary and comprising only shells. Its Essex best kept secret, hidden deep in the depth of the Dengie Peninsula, Bradwell Nature Reserve. And, right next door the Bradwell Nuclear Power Station! This had been a working power station until it was decommissioned in 2002. Needless to say that my fears of dipping in the Blackwater passed visions from the Film Cocoon or that we would end up glowing green by dusk or something.

My creation

We collected buckets of shells and cockles. And this was the largest of the crabs we found. We threw muscles back into the water and competed who could throw the furtherest stone.

My creation

And lastly, we found a ladybird graveyard which we put to rest.

My creation

We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rose. One of my kids favourite books.
